Assignment Task

This is just basically a brief outline of the task that was set for me, as this blog was an assignment. Maybe, if I am up to it, I will continue it over the holidays if I get a little bored, but don't count on it, just stay updated. If I do continue, please note that it will not be as frequent as it has previously been due to the fact that I am not under time pressure. Thank you all so much for viewing, learning, and leaving comments.

Research shows that the younger a child is exposed to Science, the more interested they are in it and the further they explore Science later in life. It is important that children are exposed to and encouraged into Science in order for technology to progress and for advances to be made in fields such as Medicine.

Children are mainly exposed to Science through school and the Internet. Therefore it is important that programs are developed in school that engage students and that content on the Internet can be made available and interesting for students who may not receive the most stimulating education.

My task was to analyse, design and create my own media that engages a younger student in learning a scientific concept of my choice. I may have chosen to work in pairs or individually to produce the final product (I chose individually).

PART ONE – ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION

1.    Research either scientific textbooks, blogs, websites, workshops or some other form of scientific communication.
2.    Analyse and evaluate the media I have chosen. Decide on the aspects of the media that work well and those that do not.
3.    Compile a list of the aspects I wish to include in my response and those that I want to avoid.

PART TWO – DESIGN

1.    Create a plan for my response that includes the topic and what would be covered in each section of my response. I should have between 8-12 sections and each section should require approximately an hour’s worth of engagement.
2.    Seek feedback on my outline from at least one peer and my teacher.
3.    Expand on each section and include objectives for that section (what I want the reader to get out of the section) and more detail as to what is going to go into it.
4.    Draft one section of your response.
5.    Seek feedback on my first section from at least one peer and my teacher.
6.    Act on the feedback I have been given and draft the rest of the sections.

PART THREE – CREATE

1. Format my response so that it looks professional and is of a publishable standard.

Thank you all so much for everything, it's exciting to see that my assignment is actually getting put to use. Thank you to my teacher for the idea of being able to do this, and the encouragement from you and my friends.

Signing off for possibly one of the last times (don't worry, there is still one or two more to come that I am working on),

Enjoy :)

Emily.
